Removals and storage costs

Our removal company cannot deliver our home contents currently stored with them due to the lockdown.
If we were not in lockdown we would like our possessions to be delivered back to us. The removal company is continuing to invoice us per month for the storage. Are we liable for this cost or is it reasonable to offer say 50% of the storage costs?

    The lockdown is not absolute. If the removal men can work safely (masks, gloves etc) they can deliver but you would need to clean everything and be out the way while they bring stuff in. Have you spoken to them?

    thank you for your reply. The removal company works under a trade body who advises not to conduct removals at the present time. Also, it would be a long distance move into a brand new property. I understand that for safety reasons they can’t work/travel in vehicles and keep the distancing. However, my question is, because they can’t deliver, am I liable for storage costs when I want my possessions?

    If they say they can't deliver and try blaming it on the government and still try to charge you. Just remind them the rules are still to go to work unless you can't work from home. They obviously can't work from home so they can still operate. So it is not the government stopping them from operating it is themselves.
