Hi All
Can someone advise, I had a collection for my car as it had come to the end of of the 3 year contract (not a single payment had been missed) due to the lockdown Lex Autolease can't collect the drive and it is sitting on our drive uninsured and awaiting them to collect it. They've now billed me for the additional time the car has been with me and yet it is only with me as they can't collect. As I assumed we would have the issue I cancelled the direct debit at the end of the contract to stop Lex just applying charges as they see fit. As far as I am aware I have complied with the legal obligations around the contract and payments, but I have now been billed a further £370 and received an invoice today. You can't even speak to anyone at Lex and this is a joke. The car is uninsured as clearly any hirer will have it from the day they started the contract until the day it ends sir I can't drive it.
Any advice of what to do as this is complete joke in my opinion and Lex Autolease are a disgrace, they texted me to say the car wouldn't be collected 2 days after the collection date!!
Many Thanks

Apolgoies meant Lex Autolease can't collect the car0

Send them a bill for storage of the car on your property0

Insure it. It's still in your care. It's quite probably also taxed - so if they get an auto continuous-insurance penalty through, that'll be added to your account.
Bet you could still use it, too, if it was insured.0 -
There's been a few similar threads recently. If the contract has ended then you have no liability for it ... the fact they won't (or can't) collect it is their issue not yours.
Insuring it (as a common courtesy and to limit any liability you may have) is one thing ... them trying to charge you for an extended lease (which has no contractual foundation - I assume? Check your T&Cs) is another thing entirely.0 -
My PCP contract with Nissan had another seven months to go in February. Nissan offered me a good deal on early termination and purchase a new car, PCP again. Unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus, I have not been able to collect the new car, but I still been making the monthly payments (so far three in total) on the old car. Only paid £250 deposit but no agreement was signed. This was going to happen when I collected the new car. What are my rights now? Can I ask for a new, better deal/agreement? Can I now return the old car and look around for a better deal?0

I have a very similar situation, all be it with Arval. Car was due to be picked up on 27th March. They have just charged me £296 for extended contract, which I never agreed to. Like you, the communication from lease company has been atrocious. Yes, I was thinking of charging them storage for what is their property, not mine.
I am absolutely fuming!
This seems a common issue, so maybe MSE could dig deeper?0 -

Your choice not to use the car - it was available for your use. Yes, collections are being heavily delayed over recent months...0
