Private parking company not sure if they are legit

I received a private parking ticket through the mail. I googled a bit as to what to do, I read that every private company must be approved by either the British parking association or international parking committee. I checked the list on BPA website as the letter had their stamp of approval, however they weren't on it. The company goes by the name of group nexus. I then emailed BPA and they said that they have two companies listed, CP Plus limited and Ranger Services. She also said that if these companies issued you with a pcn then they are an approved operator.

I looked closely at the letter and it does state at the back in smaller writing 'payable to cp plus limited' The letter has the group nexus logo displayed all over, so I'm just confused is this legit?

They do not have to be approved at all ,but lack of approval excludes them from accessing the DVLA to get to details , so most are in one or the other , in this case the BPA , plus they also subscribe to the BPA AOS as well

Please read the newbies FAQ sticky thread near the top of the forum , the first 5 post's and especially the first one

It is a genuine invoice, (not a fine) from a former clamper.  .You should now read the newbies at the top of the index page.

Nine times out of ten these tickets are scams, so consider complaining to your MP, it can cause the scammer extra costs and work, and has been known to get the charge cancelled.

Parliament is well aware of the MO of these private parking companies, many of whom are former clampers, and on 15th March 2019 a Bill was enacted to curb the excesses of these shysters. Codes of Practice are being drawn up, an independent appeals service will be set up, and access to the DVLA's date base more rigorously policed, persistent offenders denied access to the DVLA database and unable to operate.

Hopefully, when life gets back to normal, it will become impossible for those scammers who are left to continue their vile trade, but until this is done you should still complain to your MP, citing the new legislation.

Just as the clampers were finally closed down, so hopefully will many of these Private Parking Companies.

You could have found this out yourself by spending a few minutes googling.

Your info must be slightly out of date, the IPC is the International Parking Community, whatever one of those is!

CP Plus ones are so very easy to beat with one email, and the NEWBIES thread even mentions them and why!
