my wife has a long term illness and provided a sick note for 12 weeks only money she gets is PIP motability componant
they have awarded us £594.04 a month surly i thought my wife would have got extra money for sickness
also there is no help with mortgage in this we have never claimed any benefits before
can someone tell me is this right thanks ALAN

She should be sent a UC50 health questionnaire to complete and her health assessed.if she is found to have Limited Capability for Work and Work Related Activity the LCWRA element will be payable from the fourth payment.charlieoscarxray said: .they have awarded us £594.04 a month surly i thought my wife would have got extra money for sicknessalso there is no help with mortgage in this we have never claimed any benefits before
UC does not provide help with mortgage costs. After 39 weeks if you have no earnings in this time you can access a Support for Mortgage Interest loan.Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.0 -
No help for mortgage on UC except a loan to pay the interest on the mortgage after 9 consecutive months of 0 earnings.
The only extra for illness/disability would be if your wife is awarded LCWRA from a Work Capability Assessment; the equivalent of the support group for ESA. Has she been referred for a WCA do you know? She would get a form through and it's really important to understand the descriptors before filling it in. Info is here https://wcainfo.net/

Really wish this was disclosed somewhere in the application for UC.Spoonie_Turtle said:No help for mortgage on UC except a loan to pay the interest on the mortgage after 9 consecutive months of 0 earnings.
I have been unemployed for just under 10months.
Initially my claim was rejected as I've failed the habitual residence test.Been asked to re-submit. Granted settled status. Submitted new claim.
And yet through all that time I wasn't eligible for UC.
It's a simple question to add in the application. "Have you've been unemployed for more than 9months?"Why waste peoples time?
Not at any point I've had a hint I might not be eligible for UC. I even had the payment date.Weeks have passed and I've been left with no money to cover my bills.0 -
You are mixing up two things. SpoonieTurtle is talking about eligibility for the Support for Mortgage Interest loan scheme, not about UC entitlement.daschom said:Spoonie_Turtle said:No help for mortgage on UC except a loan to pay the interest on the mortgage after 9 consecutive months of 0 earnings....

Apologies for the mixup.
Is there a place where the rules for UC eligibility are disclosed? So much resources have been wasted when I was claiming UC. While a simple question added in the application form is all what's needed...0 -

You can check entitlement on a benefits calculator. Other than that all the information you need is always available through a google search.

From what you have posted you are getting UC. The extra money that you might get in your 4th payment has been explained in earlier replies - your wife needs to have a Work Capability Assessment for this to happen.daschom said:Apologies for the mixup.

There is lots if information here https://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/benefits/universal-credit/

My two claims for UC have been rejected. In both cases I was even given the payment date.

Each claim was rejected for the same reason. Which is, I have been unemployed for more than 9 months. Why this simple rule is not part of the application screening when claiming UC?
It would save hours of both my and agents' time. Not to mentioned how disappointing it is to be told you are not eligible a week before the payment date!0 -
There is no ‘unemployed longer than 9 months’ rule about UC.
Do you have pictures or a screenshot of the reason for the ending of your claim?0 -
It sounds to me as if the unemployment may have been an issue in respect of passing the Habitual Residence Test when you previously applied. Now that you have Settled Status it is not relevant.daschom said: My two claims for UC have been rejected. In both cases I was even given the payment date. Each claim was rejected for the same reason.
