I've noticed for a while now my C drive seems top be losing space randomly.
I just turned my PC on just now, opened My Computer & saw i had 8.00GB remaining.
I opened a video file that i had on a USB stick, i saw it immediately drop to 7.99GB then 7.98GB. I watched a few seconds of the clip to check something and then looked at My Computer again and it was 7.14GB remaining.
I open MSE, type this & now i'm about to check to see if it's dropped further ......... nope, 7.17GB.
What's going on?

Whats wrong? Nothing. That's how computers work.

How big is the disk in total, how much ram has it got is system turned on for the C: drive. Run disk cleanup on it (it also may have a windows.old folder on it).Oh and which browser are you using , and does it have many other tabs open. Yeah I know lots of questons but my crystal ball is in isolation.

I just opened a video file on a USB stick.I usually do do plenty of tabbed browsing but on this occasion i actually didn't. Again though, not sure how that impacts opening My Computer, clicking the USB drive & then opening a video file.0

Of course it is not a feature of SSD's to gobble space.Opening the Video probably opens a temp file and doesn't clean up after itself, ditto browser they use cached files, cookies, temp space etc. Run disk cleanup then repeat your tests, you will still see a diminished free space as time goes on.Look here to find recently change files https://www.howtogeek.com/219157/how-to-easily-view-recently-modified-files-in-windows/if you really want to know.

You can always run a disk check tool on your SSD .

I use Wisecare 365 to clean up useless files. As long as you don't touch the registry tool its perfectly safe and free and it's better than Ccleaner.
I know Domestos kills 99% of germs, but I'm worried about the 1% that got away.0 -
Try running TreeSize Free to observe what folders and files are taking up the space.

Could it be that you have a dynamic-sized pagefile, and playing the video caused the pagefile to increase?
