Hi,
As I'm sure many of you are having the same issue. I cancelled my holiday with tui due to COVID19 fears. I called them a few times once travel restrictions were coming into play. I was due to travel to Mexico and when I called tui they kept saying the same mexico is still fine if you cancel you will lose half due to the closeness of the holiday travel date.  I have underlying health conditions and I panicked and cancelled.  Three days later they stopped travel to mexico. I was absolutely devastated. At this point I tried calling tui to see if there was something they could do to either reinstate me my full holiday cost or actually rebook my holiday. Since then they have brought out an incentive of keeping holidays and I wondered if this stands for cancelled holidays due to COVID19.  I've been waiting 7 weeks for my refund and they still cant tell me when I will receive it I just keep getting the same please bare with us. Surly they would prefer not to have to give me a refund and have me on the books of holidays for next year.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

You can only ask but they're not obliged to help now you've cancelled.

Unfortunately you cancelled the contract and paid the associated fees.  You could maybe see if they would reinstate the booking and offer you a travel voucher, but to be honest I think your chances are slim.  No harm in asking though, but the only people who can give you an answer are TUI.

You could potentially try and recover some more of the costs by claiming that their contract is unfair and that their cancellation fees are not representative of what it cost them to cancel your booking.  I wouldn't have the first idea though on advising you how to proceed with that.
  • I thought that maybe the case.
I've tried calling them but as you can imagine it's impossible to get in contact although when  I have called there is a selection of cancelled holiday due to COVID19 before the voucher incentive please press 3 so maybe I'm in with a chance. Who knows

If you paid via a credit card there might be another way to try and get some of the money back, it's might not work, but the only cost will be time.
