Refund for Spanish venue

I booked a venue in Spain for a party, they are refusing to refund me, even though they were closed due to COVID-19 and they couldn’t fulfill the booking , is there anything I can do to get my money back, I paid them directly by debit card.

No idea without more details. What does your contract say? What sort of venue is it? When is/was the party?

I paid the venue owner last September , it was a bar for a private party ( English owner so language hasn’t been an issue) she just refuses point blank as she needs the money to pay her staff ( her words ). It was supposed to be last weekend.0

You could try a Chargeback with your debit card. it will be easy to proof it's cancelled as Spain is in total lockdown ATM

I tried chargeback and t and it’s not possible, just dont know where to go from here, seems unfair she can get away with it as she is in Spain 😆0

I agree, it is unfair but can't think of any options you have apart from court action, and with her in Spain might be pointless.
