Help re Furloughing

Hi, I have been furloughed be my employer for last 3 weeks. Cutting a long story short I received an email a few days ago saying I will no longer be furloughed but I will still only be receiving 80% of my wage and should be available to work in the next 2 weeks. Can they do this? Thanks

You need to check your contract of employment. Also, I'd be a little wary of an employer suddenly getting you back into work but keeping wages at 80%, the cynic in me would believe they may be still trying to claim from the HMRC whilst you are working. My advice would be to save a copy of emails going forward.1

It could just be that they are planning to get you working again in the next couple of weeks. Furlough is for *at least* 3 weeks but it doesn't have to be only chunks of 3 weeks. If you re-start working but they only pay 80% of your wages, check this doesn't take you below minimum wage for your age (for the hours that you have worked).0
