Groupon!!!

Hi everyone 
My Wife and I bought Groupon vouchers specifically to visit a hotel in the Lake District. Unfortunately about a week before the trip, the hotel closed its doors due to the lockdown. Groupon is being really helpful (not) and saying we can have credit vouchers. My problem is that I don't really want over £200 tied up in vouchers when there's no guarantee that this hotel will be open or even accept the vouchers if/when its doors open again. Has anyone had any luck in getting a refund?

I'm afraid the summary is:  you bought vouchers, you're entitled to a refund in vouchers.  They have no obligation to refund you in any other form.  Next time, pay using real money.  You don't surrender flexibility that way.

I'll never use them again! Honestly their customer service is terrible. It wasn't even cheaper, you just got a complimentary bottle of wine thrown in.

They are a triumph of marketing over rationality.  What's a decent bottle of wine cost? A tenner?
