I am self employed just put in a claim for universal credits. Is this a loan I have to repay? I'm not requesting an advance for UC, there is a lack of information as to wether I have to repay any monies paid. Thank you so much in advance for any clarity on this.

Universal credit is only repayable if your claim was wrong. You may be thinking of tax credits where you have to repay them in certain circumstances. If you get an advance on UC, it is repaid out of UC claims.1

I was told that when you do have a job again you get taxed extra as you will taxed until you pay your universal credit off. Is this correct?0 -

No, this is not correct. As has been advised, UC does not have to be repaid back, unless you have an advance payment when you first claim.

Who is telling you this stuff? Don't believe anything they tell you if this is a representative sample of their advice.helder21 said: I was told that when you do have a job again you get taxed extra as you will taxed until you pay your universal credit off.
