It is up to you whether you choose to ignore my recommendations and advice.  It would just require two identical letters going out to the ICO and OFGEM.  Plus one additional letter to your DCA.

This has been going on so long, I would have thought you just wanted it resolved as opposed to avoiding the issue.  :)

Oh, I imagined having to trawl through tonnes of old emails providing evidence of past contact from years ago etc. Is there a standard template you can advise? I wrote asking for evidence under section 77-79 CCA 1974 to shell (which was never received despite being sent recorded) and to the debt collector who said they had no evidence. Do I just send the same letter to ICO etc?

Yup.  The ICO and OFGEM should get identical letters.

You will just need to send an additional letter to the assigned DCA stating the law (the handbook page that I linked to, and asserting that they suspend all collection activities pending the conclusion of their investigation.
