Store Card in Default

Options
Hi can anyone help? I’ve had a store card (Argos) put into default much to my shock as my credit rating is good. I only realised when I logged in to make a purchase and saw my card was in arrears. I checked through my direct debits and statements and the DD was reversed in September 2019, went through fine in October, reversed in November, went through fine in December and January but reversed again in February?! Went through fine again in March yet March credit report has noted a default!  Argos say it’s a fault with the bank- the bank are blaming Argos. I’ve sent several emails over to Argos, none of which have been responded to. What is the best route to go down to get this removed? Never had one before and am due to remortgage in June so really concerned! Thank you! (Just to note, that I haven’t received any communication from Argos about these arrears or default via the post, it was only me logging in to make a purchase and then an alert on my credit report otherwise I’d still be none the wiser!)

If Argos or the bank aren’t responding go to the Financial Ombudsman

Make a written apology to Argos.  Clearly state that this was two isolated instances of you not checking your finances properly.  Be very apologetic.  Request that they remove the negative markers (and default) recorded on your credit file

    Why were the DD’s reversed?
Why is an apology required if no money was available to make payments?
It’s therefore not accurate as to what happened in reality.

Sometimes a little 'white lie' does not hurt anyone.  :)

You can have a very positive outcome with a polite and well worded apology.
