It makes no difference, your wife's employer has chosen not to use the furlough scheme, so she will not be paid. As Undervalued said "unfair but do not unlawful" and it is lawfulness that matters in employment not fairness
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Sorry but there's a lot of people out there that are still working despite who they are living with. If your wife is extra careful when returning home from work then there's no reason why she can't continue to work. If she chooses not work then she won't get paid, it's as simple as that.

There's so many people that have no option to work, even when living with vulnerable people. They stick to strict hygiene rules when returning home, including wearing the same shoes to work each time and removing them before going into the house.
The NHS guideline for people that cannot isolate in this situation is to stay at home and they are eligible for furlough.
I'm sorry and understand you are concerned but the information we are giving you is correct even though it is not what you want to hear.

She may be eligible but her employer does not have to furlough her if they choose not to. It is their choice, not her's and not yours. Sorry but that is the law!

I'm shielding due to a suppressed immune system but my wife has carried on working. She works in a care home. It can be done even with small children. You just have to be very strict and meticulous with the protective actions.
