Monthly payment for my boiler
Tillydot
I contacted my boiler provider, Everlasting Boilers, last month to ask if they would agree to a payment holiday. I had just lost all of my income. I and my wife are self employed with our small cleaning company, and didnt have any money until I received a payment from Universal credit, which isnt enough to pay all of the bills. I have contacted my mortgage provider and other bills that couldnt be paid, the boiler provider is the only one who has written back and this is since my request in March, when my company folded. They said that in line with FCA guidlines and that in line with the information provided I have not gualified for a payment holiday, and just cancelling the direct debit is not a payment holiday. I had to cancel the direct debit as it would have bounced. Is there anything I can do, should I contact the FCA, or will they just take me to court as soon as they can? Thank you for any help you have provided.

Can anyone offer any advice on the above please, desperate to know what to do next?0

You have a contract with them and you seem to be expecting them to go without the money they need for their business to continue.
Your answer is that this would probably be treated like any other unpaid debt and I would expect it to continue in the same way as if you didn't pay for a phone contract. It's an overdue bill, you'll possibly get late payment fees, breach your contract or end up with a default in the long run. What plans do you have in place for paying bills that you can't afford? Can you get a payment advance from UC in the meantime?0 -
Thank you for your reply yksi. Of course they need their money to continue their business, as do I but unfortunately I do not have a business anymore, and therefore do not have any money to pay the boiler debt. And no I cannot get any extra money from UC. Things are not black and white as you seem to be suggesting yksi. A lot of companies are prepared to offer payment holidays in this unprecedented times. You cannot pay what you do not have.0

Go back to them again and explain the situation again. You may find a different person on the other end of the line can help you.0

The FCA does not supervise boiler maintenance companies.1

Is this financing for a boiler you've had installed or a maintenance contract?0

How many months into the annual contract were you. How many of these payments have been made. What was the monthly payment?
I'd be surprised if the cost to you in ending the boiler contract was significant. It is also one of these products that are highly lucrative to the offeror as it rarely pays out. Go direct and hire a plumber next time. Boilers are built to last.- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's
- When on someone else's be it a road, a pavement, a right of way or a property there are rules. Don't assume there are none.
- "Free parking" doesn't mean free of rules. Check the rules and if you don't like them, go elsewhere
- All land is owned. If you are not on yours, you are on someone else's and their rules apply.
