Warning - Lost Cashback on AMEX Credit Card

Just a reminder you will need to spend £3000 in the year to get your cashback on the Platinum Cashback Everyday Credit Card.
I lost £100 as only spent £2000 (I got mixed up as that is the maximum you can spend to get the 5% introductory offer).  No warning, no help from customer service, just disappears.
No complaints as technically they are within their rights but don't want anyone to make the same mistake.
Although it states your cashback amount it could be considered misleading as you only get it if you spend £3000 and don't get it until after a year.

It does say in the rewards bit on there website "The more purchases you make on your Card, the more cashback you can earn. As long as you spend a minimum of £3,000 in your Cardmembership year, every full £1 you spend on purchases qualifies for cashback."

So its not really because of Amex fault its because you didn't follow the terms to get the cashback.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

It's a shame you didn't achieve your cashback - but it is really clear there's a minimum spend - even I know that and I don't own  the card  this is a bit like saying 'warning - if you don't meet the conditions you are clearly told/shown/publicised everywhere - you won't get something'

And again, another poster who doesn’t read terms and conditions throughly before applying for a product.
Its becoming a (very worrying) habit on here now.

I said I had no complaints and at no point did I say it was Amex's fault.  Was just trying to help people but hey why would you want to do that.  D3xt3r5Lab don't worry for me there's other people more deserving.
  • Another thing to watch out for, if your only reason for the card, like me, was the cashback, is stopping at the £3,000 spend IF you are likely to have transactions refunded to the account, especially in the current climate, that then leaves you at < £3k for the year's spend.

I am currently at £2,800, however, there is potential that two trips to Europe may be cancelled and, eventually, refunds to the card of £690. This would leave me well short of the £3,000 minimum spend, if I had simply stopped using the card at £3k.

    Just a thought.
