Furlough Payment wrong (My mistake)

Hello
I submitted my furlough calculation through the Government portal but miscalculated the amount to be paid to me … I have received the payment into my bank account but basically I didn't claim enough  … My question is can I request the underpayment balance to be paid to me?
Thank you

The guidance says no, at least for the moment:

"You cannot make more than one claim during a claim period - - this means you should include all of the employees that you want to furlough for that claim period, because you will not be able to make another claim for the same period or one that overlaps.

You must claim for all employees in each period at one time – you cannot make changes to your claim. It is not possible to amend a claim once it is submitted. HMRC are looking to develop a process to allow for amendments to be made."

Be aware that if you fail to pay an employee 80% of the furloughed employee's reference salary for the furlough period, you can claim no CJRS for that employee, unless the mistake in your calculation was reasonable. You may have paid the employee correctly, but made an error on the claim, which would not fall foul of this rule.
  • Hi Jeremy
Thank you for the valuable information … it is well appreciated  ….. I forgot to mention that I am the employer and only employee of a Limited company … not sure if that will make any difference?

Not to the analysis, but it makes life a lot easier when you only have to agree furlough with yourself!
  • Haha  … yes indeed
Thank you once again Jeremy  :o)

I should add that the jury is out on whether you can run payroll and claim CJRS while you are furloughed.
