Wilting succulents
Options
Hi all,
All my houseplants are looking a bit sorry for themselves. Ive also taken some cuttings which I have in water.
Ive just seen this from IKEA: https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/vaexer-led-cultivation-light-silver-colour-40333455/ . Does anyone have any experience with indoor lighting? Does it work? Do some work better than others?
The IKEA light uses 4.8 kWh per month, which for me is about 70p per month. A small price to pay if it makes my plants happier!
Im interested in wiser and more experienced people's thoughts! Thanks

TBH, Im not really a keen grower. Ive just had a range of house plants scattered around the place. Wandering jews, jade, philodendrons, and a few succulents that I have no idea what they are!
Ive been careful not to over-water them. Ive experimented having the in different locations in the house to see what they like. But I feel theyre just not getting enough light, and I have limited window sills!0 -
Best to leave houseplants to go dry, then water. Succulents especially need that regime.
Overwatering and watering all the time, did for more than enough houseplants in Digger Mansions. Easiest way to see if they need watering is to just pick up the pot and see how heavy they are..._1 -
My mother used to grow lots of hers in a north facign living room that was cold in the winter [no heating], Never knew her to lose one.I have a christmas cactus in a house in wales, it sits on a table i another unheated house about 5ft away from a window, gets watered maybe five times a year flowers every year. You could try treating them meaner....

Thanks guys. So have you had any experience with grow lights? Im thinking - in addition to preventing my plants getting even 'leggier' - it may look quite nice in the evenings. (subdued lighting)0

I've got a grow light for my venus fly trap, but they need strong lighting and every thing I researched said a windowsill isn't going to cut it. I bought this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07YS9SJ8M/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Currently only using it on the fly trap, which looks perky; I think the problem with the office plants I'm looking after is over watering and I'm not sure if they'll recover.0
