Hi
Can I ask
1. how come this tax on the interest doesn't show up on my tax statement for the year the ppi refund was paid? and
2) what happens if I no longer have the details of the interest taken, since the ppi was repaid 3 years ago and I wasn't expecting to be able to reclaim it. I can find out the months and years I received the 2 ppi refunds I have had because the details of me paying them in is on my bank statements, that is all the information I have now
I would be grateful for any advice

I should perhaps also add that both ppi refunds were achieved via claims companies and after all this time I have no idea what the two different companies were called. There were so many with similar names. All I know is that the tax on the 8% was taken before the balance was sent to me.0

Did you declare it to HMRC under self assessment? Was the interest paid in the year before the personal savings allowance was introduced and was correctly taxed?

If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -
If the interest was deducted before you receive the money then HMRC should know about it.0
