Help for those recenty becoming self-employed

My partner moved into self employment in Feb 2020, and as she hasn't been active for the previous tax year, is unable to claim a grant. We have talked to UC and although we we're given a small upfront payment to help with the first month, we have today been told we wouldn't get anything else. I am currently still working in teaching, but my wage doesn't cover everything for the both of us. I'm wondering if anyone else has found themselves in a similar situation and has found any help? Starting to get stuck for options. Thanks!

Is it your wage that is resulting in nil entitlement?Luketh04 said: We have talked to UC and although we we're given a small upfront payment to help with the first month, we have today been told we wouldn't get anything else. Afraid so, don't think i'll have any luck with UC to be honest, hoping there's something out there I haven't yet been made aware of!calcotti said:

If she was employed before becoming self employed and she's paid enough NI Contributions in tax years April 2017 to March 2019 then New style JSA is the only other thing she could claim. It pays £74.35 per week for 26 weeks. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-jobseekers-allowance
