Furlough pay whilst shielding . Employer reopening business

I am shielding but as yet no letter ( waiting for dr to catch up )
my employer informs me that I will qualify for sick pay not furlough as I’m shielding I would have thought furlough would continue ? Or is that solely up to the employer ?

If you have a letter advising you to shield then yes, you will only be entitled to SSP. Whether you're entitled to receive this will depend on how much you earn each week. https://www.gov.uk/statutory-sick-pay/eligibility
