Maternity Leave

Im currently on maternity leave due to return to work in July, the plan was to use holidays in June as my SMP stops on the 2nd of june. However due to the current COVID-19 situation I have no childcare for my 2 children. I have notified my employer that I now intend to take the full 52 weeks maternity leave and take the hit with no pay. I was wondering if this is a good idea or does anyone know of any new guidance for new parents on MAT leave and cant return to work as planned due to COVID-19. I have asked my employer but they have yet to let me know, i’ve been waiting 3 weeks for an answer
