Hi all, I am a care assistant, but unfortunately I have lupus, this makes me high risk so I am currently shielding, I’m on a zero hours contract, apparently I’ve not earned enough to claim SSP so I cannot claim that, I’ve been told I’m furloughed but how does this work if I’m on a zero hours contract? Will I Receive anything ?

you would be getting a payment if you have been furloughed, have you had that confirmed in writing? How many months have you been working at the care home? How many hours generally have you worked? Generally For variable paid employees the employer can work out the average of their previous payslips to provide a payment.0

I’ve not had it confirmed yet but I have signed the paper work and returned it back to the office, I have work there for just over 5 years0

If you signed paperwork for furlough and sent it back, that sounds like you have been informed you are on furlough and agreed to it. This is part of the process for furlough. As @gary83 said, the calculation of your furlough pay for zero hours is based on average (either average over past 12 months or what you got the same month last year). It might be worth just asking your boss in a phone call, but it is likely you will be paid the furlough when the normal pay-run would be.0
