Contract terminated

Hi all
As of Friday 24th April my contract at work was terminated due to covid 19. (Contract original finish date was 31/12/2021)
I was working for a agency but was given the disappointing news at where I worked by the deputy manager.

Still unclear as to where I stand with the whole furlough thing as I'm having little clarity from the agency I worked for.

Any thoughts?
Cheers.

Only they can answer that. Even if you are eligible to be furloughed, no employer is obliged to do so.

As your contract as ended your employer would need to re-employ you to furlough you. Furloughing is entirely down to the employer and you will need to speak to them regarding this.

If the answer is no, which i expect it maybe then look at claiming universal credit. If you have savings/capital of more than £16,000 you'll be excluded from claiming.

A claiming for UC will end any tax credits you may already be claiming.
  • Some clarity.., the agency who I worked for are waiting on a client confirmation letter to be signed by the client to confirm the contract was terminated due to covid 19.

If the client signs then I am eligible for furlough.

Then probably more likely they will not, it costs them and they have to pay in advance. You still are entitled to holiday pay and they have no client to pass that on to.

  • Am now receiving furlough payments.

    Kind regards
