. Any rep that can't defend a simple 'accidental wrong date' case, and win, isn't worth their salt. So, either that or there was more to the case than you say.
The Union will be unable to do anything, your best course of action is to give your evidence the person concerned and see if they wish to proceed with an unfair dismissal case.
If your evidence is strong enough, you could go to your HR dept. and report your suspicions.
