Thought you said you didn’t need the cash for 15 years. Make your mind up....Burton1979 said:
I can imagine the past few months have caused a few people to think whether they really want their investments ring-fenced and inaccessible.
It's highlighted that a "Job for life" and "15 years until retirement" can very quickly change.3 -
Rather than viewing it as "locking the money away", view it as "saving money for retirement in the most tax efficient way possible".Burton1979 said:
I think the best thing you can do is get all the information together about your pensions, go on a pension calculator and make an honest assessment of how your retirement savings are stacking up. Only then can you understand whether your pension is adequate or not adequate. That will help you decide whether a pension or a S&S ISA is the best way to go.0 -
Correct Aminatidi, I am of course looking ahead to 15yrs of continued investment, however as we have all learnt in the last 2mths things dont always go to plan, and I prefer the freedom of an ISA compared to a pension where I can only access a % of my lump at 55. I am also unsure in 15yrs time what the next project/venture will be, so again would like the flexibility to take cash out to invest in something new.Aminatidi said:

With regards to investment platforms I am looking at either ii or HL, I understand their is quite a difference in fees, however the HL platform seems easier to use (especially mobile wise) plus they offer the LISA investment which I am looking at as I opened one years ago but done nothing with it. Does anyone have any experience of either and which one would be better? I have used the compare platform calculators, so this is not so much about fees, more about usability and customer support, etc.
