Accepted a credit note, can I change my mind?

Hi there - I had a UK holiday booked in April, and when the company contacted me to discuss my options a few weeks ago, I decided to take a credit note to be used in the future with them rather than a refund. I've been thinking and now I'm not sure that I want to do that as some family members don't think they'll be able to travel with us next year. Legally can I go back and ask for a refund if I've changed my mind?

Nothing legal stopping you asking.  Nothing legal in them refusing, though.
  • Thanks for the reply. So I may just have to stick with it then if they say no?

I think so.  As I understand it, you've made your choice and if they change it, it will be a goodwill gesture rather than an obligation.
  • When did you agree to taking the voucher?
New User name as MSE gave me a number in my old one.

  • When did you agree to taking the voucher?
When they called me a few weeks ago, just before the holiday date.
  • Not sure what your legal options are to be honest  but will try to think of some if you don't want a credit note.
Did they explain how long the credit voucher  will last and the T&Cs  or have they sent you anything?

  • Yes they've given a timescale, I'll give them a call and have a further chat. Seems as though since I said yes initially, I may have to just go with it....
     Thanks for your help everyone.
