Can anyone vouch for a good supplier of skirting boards on both quality and cost? I'm looking for a Victorian style in MDF.

If you want a Victorian era profile, go for traditional materials too. A decent solid wood skirting board will last a lot longer than any MDF.
Any language construct that forces such insanity in this case should be abandoned without regrets. –

It depends on the amount you are buying. The online places aren't very cheap unless you need a house worth of skirting. Try your local builders / timber merchants as they'll probably deliver for free so are more competitive.0

I'd agree, in our last house we used both and the pine version painted was so much nicer to both install/finish and it looked much better. The MDF stuff has a plasticky look, the effect is the same as wooden doors looking so much better than MDF versions. We used a timber supplier, champion timber in Surrey but there will be equivalents everywhere and they can also supply a copy of the original if you have a sample.FreeBear said:If you want a Victorian era profile, go for traditional materials too. MDF skirting is a lot easier to fit compared to timber. How can mdf look plasticky? They will both look the same if using the same paint.maisie_cat said:

I think a lot of the 'pre-painted' MDF stuff is actually wrapped in something plastic-y. I've used both in our house but prefer the pre-primed that I finish paint myself.john.h said:
