Student Rental Agreement

Hi, my son entered into a yearlong rental agreement with his landlord in September, however due to the lockdown, he no longer lives in the property. He’s still paying for it (London!) but is there any chance of getting him out of the agreement/contract? It’s in place until August.

Most likely no chance, i'm afraid. He signed a tenancy agreement and must pay the remainder of the rent. Does he claim a student loan? if so then the final payment for the loan was made in April.

It's their choice that they no longer live in the property. There is no reason why a 19/20 year old cant stay in the property cook, clean for themselves and continue their studies from that house online as most unis are operating that way.
The landlord provided accommodation regardless of why they choose to live their. That service is still provided however you dont want to use the service. That's your choice.
As the above poster said he will have recieved a student loan so that should help cover it.1
