Will there be Pension apartheid?

I was actually trying to give her a bit of advice about how to deal with the NHS.They're not after advice. They're trolling.

My condolences/congratulations on your mother's situation however.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Hard to have a meaningful discussion on this subject really. I say this as someone with a 17 year served RAF DB pension which will be payable in the next 5 years, I see myself as very fortunate. I've also amassed a sizeable DC pot in the private sector, only managed because I somehow ended up in a high paying industry. I honestly see the average paid public sector worker having a massive advantage over an average paid private sector worker in terms of pensions.
I get the impression that these boards are dominated by people in the fortunate position of having built/building quite large DC pots (compared with most people - yes, not everyone can put 40K a year into their pot).
I suggest there's a middle ground to some of the polarised opinion on this thread.1 -
Of the two poles of the alluded 'polarisation,' may I suggest that most people here are on the North (maybe South) pole, and the other person is on the Southeast by east one?vulcanrtb said:I suggest there's a middle ground to some of the polarised opinion on this thread.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

haha, yes it was a bit of rant by the OP.Paul_Herring said:

There's a non-too-subtle difference between someone having a rant, and someone posting something to elicit lots and lots of dissenting views.vulcanrtb said:haha, yes it was a bit of rant by the OP.

OP wasn't ranting (former,) they were trolling (latter, despite whatever the current definition of a troll is this week.)Conjugating the verb 'to be":

Didn't come off as a troll to me, just a misinformed rant 🤷♂️ I've been around Internet Forums for long enough to spot the try hards 😂1

Didn't come off as a troll to me,It was. in both senses of the word.
The definition has changed over the past 40 years. Rather crudely, the meaning has changed:- 40->10 years ago: they're doing it to rile me up
- now: I disagree with them. They're wrong .
And for the avoidance of doubt - I'm putting them in the first category.Conjugating the verb 'to be":
-o I am humble -o You are attention seeking -o She is Nadine Dorries0 -
OP, In your other posts you were complaining that if you and your spouse died after 5 years your DB pension would end and you would 'line the pockets of the pension company'. You then went on to complain that with your Pru DC pot you would have to live until 112 to break even on getting back yours and your employers contributions.
You clearly don't understand pensions at all (understandable, not many do), and come across as resentful of those you think have a better pension provision than yourself. You also seem very bitter and anti pensions generally.
This forum is one of the best resources around to ask questions and learn from some extremely knowledgeable people who give up hours of their time helping people for nothing more than the satisfaction of helping others. Rather than rant about perceived injustices and rubbing people up the wrong way, why don't you try actually asking some questions to harness some of that knowledge, and try and learn something about the pensions you have. I'm sure you will feel a lot better for it.

An excellent point, last paragraph in particular. I have picked up several useful pieces of information, some from direct questions, others just from reading stuff.Ceme3000 said:OP, In your other posts you were complaining that if you and your spouse died after 5 years your DB pension would end and you would 'line the pockets of the pension company'. Not a prayer with the mindset shown by OP in their posts. Same topic, different threads....a sad soul.Ceme3000 said:OP, In your other posts you were complaining that if you and your spouse died after 5 years your DB pension would end and you would 'line the pockets of the pension company'.
