Sanderson Drake Extortion

I asked SD to stop investigating my wonga claim.
I called wonga and they had no record of them for the claim.
Now theye sending me invoices and fees and threats of court if i do not pay them 165 pounds for an initial claim of 16 pounds.
Ive contacted trading standards and told SD to not contact me again.
Do they have any jurisdiction in Northern Ireland where our laws are different.
I wont be paying them a penny as its disgusting behaviour

I assume that you had originally asked them to look into your issues? What terms did you agree to? As they will have done work on your behalf are they not due payment?4

Have I read this correctly?
You asked a 3rd party company to investigate a claim of £16?If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales4 -
No.
I didnt know it was only 16 pounds and i asked them to cancel the alleged agreement. Checked my junk mail theyre demanding overdue fees of 164 quid from an initial 3 pounds they claim they were owed.
Im in northern ireland ill take my chances0 -
It depends on what you agreed at the time. The £16 is irrelevant, you obviously thought it was a lot more. If they did what they said they would do then you owe them their fee. I take it they found out it was only £16 hence why you asked them to stop. But the fact remains they still did the work. Northern Island is still the UK so yes they can sue you.0

I took it to mean the original invoice from SD to OP (for time spent before OP cancelled) as £16.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

If you've asked a company to do something - and they have - whether or not you like the result isn't the issue - if the work has been completed you'd need to pay for it. Which laws are different in NI that would mean you don't have to pay for work you've asked someone to do on your behalf? Whether the fees are fair, and whether you could negotiate a settlement are different issues, as you might be able to argue that due to there being such a low payout, you can't afford such high fees, and whether there's a compromise you can come to?0

The point is - The fees were 3 pounds Prior to this I asked them to cancel the claim and they didn't. They sent the invoice by email not letter to my junkbox. I didn't get it. they are now adding penalties of 65 pounds - I counter offered - they rejected and are instigating court action - trying to get almost 200 pounds out of an initial 3. Where do I stand in Northern Ireland trying to avoid a ccj now they are rejecting any kind of mediation.

"Northern Ireland has a unique system for ensuring compliance with court orders. If the civil courts in Northern Ireland issue an order relating to the recovery of money, goods or property this is enforced by a centralised unit called the Enforcement of Judgements Office (EJO). The EJO can also enforce civil judgements made by courts outside of Northern Ireland including England, Wales, Scotland and other EU countries."mbroderick1 said:Im in northern ireland ill take my chances
