Furlough help as an employer

Employee left 29/03/20 due to shielding because of age. Been with us for years, is it too late to re employ and furlough. If not too late would I put start date as her original date employment started, which I'm presuming I would need to do?

If you put a start date after the 19th March 2020 she wouldnt be eligible.0

I know the scheme has changed a bit since that time but when you say they left due to shielding, why did they just not take unpaid leave at that time? But yes you can retake them back but they still have all rights of an employee if you take them back. The main one will be that you still have to pay holiday pay.
