Bank Error

Options
Hi MSE Forum,
In December 2019, I received a letter from a bank I don't bank with informing me that they have sold my debt to a collection agency.
I have no affiliation with this bank so this was a bit of a shock to read, especially around the Christmas Period.
I took the letter to my local branch of this bank and the only way of proving that this had nothing to do with me was through my National Insurance Number and my tax code.
Quite a few emails and debt letters later, and it was all resolved.

Or so I thought....................

Last week, I received another letter from the same bank, with different account references and products numbers, telling me that they have sold my debt to a collection agency.
And so I start the whole process again:
Contact said bank.
Prove it's not me by National Insurance Number and tax code.
I'm now waiting for a follow up to see how they're getting on.

My problem with all this is that I don't bank with this particular bank so why are they chasing me for I debt I don't have?
As this is the second time within 3 months, how can I put an end to it to ensure it doesn't happen again?
Is there any action I can take against the bank to get them to change the way they accept clients as this guy has clearly found a way to get credit cards, max them out, default and then go missing.  Why am I in the firing line for their error?

Any help would be gratefully received.

Whats reported on your credit files ?
Send a letter of complaint, that its not you etc and tell them to cease and desist.

If you are to make a complaint, then I would suggest you send the alleged creditor a 'proveit' letter first, so that you begin your paper-trail.

Letter when you know nothing about the debt - AKA "Prove it" letter

And as DCFC79 says, you should check your three credit files for data accuracy.
