Alphera - Payment Deferral

So i have 2 agreements with Alphera for PCP and HP car finance.
Last week I put a payment plan in place before the FCA guidlines were public, and now they are dragging their feet about a payment deferral. They say "we haven't yet finalised what we will do about customers with payment plans". They said they dont know when they will be able to contact customers with payment plans about further options.
In my situation, a payment deferral would be far better as i am currently having to borrow money off of my shielding elderly parents.
To be clear, the accounts have never been in arrears and well kept so I don't think a payment deferral is unreasonable.
What are the guidlines about providing payment deferals whereas people have previously been proactive about trying to keep accounts out of arrears and working with providers to ensure accounts are well maintained? Seems like a kick in the teeth at the moment...

Well here i am 1 week later and no reply at all from Alphera.
Any advice?0 -
It is possible you were dealing with just whoever in the call centre and no-one is looking at anything at the company.
Do they now have any updated information on their web-site? Is it worth contacting them again just making it all a new enquiry, and being sure what the FCA rules are now about deferals?0 -
Their website just states to call them if you already have a payment plan in place, which I did and they said that they havent decided what to do with people who have payment plans and that they would get back to me... this was a week ago and they were well aware at the time what the FCA rules were.
I shall try phoning them again tomorrow.0 -
WARNING:
Please be warned that if you were proactive and put a payment plan in place before the new FCA guidance came into force, Alphera are REFUSING to move you to payment deferrals even though this is the best option.
Please take this as a warning that being proactive on your account can harm you in the long run with lenders such as this!
