Credit Card Refund and Direct Debit

My statement balance due was £250 and I got a refund of £2250 so I phoned Nationwide to get the £2250 paid into my bank account.
I was told that I would only get £2000 paid into my bank account and there would be no direct debit taken that month.
Is this correct as I need the direct debit to be taken from my bank account to be eligible for it's £2 reward?
At least I got my money back for my cancelled holiday and will only lose £2 reward.

Yes correct they will only return the credit balance.
Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both.

It doesn't but if the card is showing a £0 balance at the time the payment is due they may not take the DD.

Well if a refund doesn't count as a payment and if they don't take the direct debit then presumably the account will be marked as no payment received for that month?
