hi all,
i was under the impression that the government bonus from a HTB ISA could be used for whatever you like? i know it can't be used for exchange deposit but i thought you could use the bonus for renovating your new house etc? Or is it merely for the completion deposit?

In theory it is meant to add to your deposit at completion. But in reality, all the monies are added into a ‘pool’ of money. So at completion when your solicitor gives you a completion statement, it will just form part of the pool of funds (made up from mortgage, your deposit that you transferred to them, bonus).Any funds not needed to complete the purchase and pay for any fees you owe will be transferred back to you.0
