Hello,
I applied for probate myself, sent off forms iht400/iht 421 forms to the tax office and probate forms will and death certificate to hmcts on the same day as per the instructions on the goverment website.
I got form stamped for IHT421 return to my home address.
I am confused do i need to sent the stamped iht421 form to the probate court or does hmrc do this electronically?
Thanks in advance?
Bill?

See https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/inheritance-tax-manual/ihtm05052
I checked with relative who has recently obtained probate - he says that he calculated and paid IHT through the direct payment scheme- HMRC advised him that the payments had been received and that they had sent the stamped IHT 421 to the Probate Registry - the Grant was received about eight weeks later.0 -
Thanks, I thought that the HMRC would have sent the stamped form to the probate office directly but I am not sure if I need to send this off to the probate office myself or wait to hear from the probate office?0

If you’re filling in this form:
• without the help of a solicitor or other person licensed to provide probate services
• a solicitor or other person licensed to provide probate services and want us to send this form directly to the Probate Registry In England and Wales, copy the amounts in boxes 3 and 5 as directed on the probate application form.Did you need to instruct them to send it to the Probate Registry?

Do they need to have the form?Did you read the link in my first post above?
I can't quite work out why HMRC didn't send the stamped form to the probate office.0 -
I read that earlier today, it confused me, I will email the probate office tomorrow and ask them what I should do.
Thanks for your time.1
