Maternity Leave Unpaid

Hi, You have said your wife 'had' to take 12 months maternity leave, did her employer request she extended her unpaid stat leave? Or did she request to extend her leave? Generally a change in return date requires 8 weeks notice.
She could use her KIT days (Up to 10 working days paid) to work from home if agreed by her employer. Or she could use annual leave (Although AL can only be used at the end of stat leave so it depends on her return date)
A lot of parents are in the same boat and are just having to manage and ask their employer for support to work as flexibly as possible.0 -
Ive read that the government is in talks to extend paid mat leave to 12 months. No idea when or if this would happen, but I am in the same situation as yourselves. I was due to go back after 10 months as well, now the employer has furloughed the company but wont furlough me, he doesn't think he's allowed too. I am in limbo, I have no option to work from home. Just hoping that the govt comes through with this extra maternity pay soon!0
