Okay, now I'm really confused. How does PayPal payment work for collection only items if it's not held by PayPal until the purchaser has received the goods?! You can tell I'm an eBay novice - not sure why I'm finding it to be difficult when the world and it's wife seem to get it first time round.soolin said:
I'm not sure what you mean by paypal not being a problem? It is an absolute no no for anything that cannot be posted with proof of delivery.Rosa_Damascena said:PayPal not the problem but perhaps offering to hold the item was. Will heed your advice about not attempting a new account and will contact eBay instead.
re: FB - never even registered as always believed it's handling of data is the work of the devil and my goodness how I have been proven right over the years. I have long been using W'App, and continued even when FB got its nasty tentacles into it so they got me there
I don't want to post / courier this item as although heavy it is also delicate, just my personal preference. I'd like to know what I'm doing before I pick up the phone and try to get some sense out of CS.No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Firstly , and I'm going to do my school teacher lecture, sorry, Do not list anything until you know how to stay safe, forget all the adverts and posts on here saying how easy selling online is- it isn't, you MUST understand how to protect yourself. Get the hang of the basics and in a few months you will be on here helping other newbies to stay safe.Rosa_Damascena said:

I don't know why you want to phone ebay CS either, the rules are clear, on ebay you can list collection only items but you have to offer paypal , although you can also offer cash on collection- but buyer gets to choose which they use, not you. Paypal are the problem here as it is them that handle your money and where you need to protect yourself, ebay CS also have a reputation for not understanding their own rules, let alone those of another company, and will tell you all sorts of nonsense just to get you off the phone.
There are announcement threads at the top of this sub board, on the first page there are some rather out of date, but hopefully guides including the collection only one I have already given you, and this one about postage which covers paypal seller protection:

Seller protection on paypal requires you to ship to the delivery address that paypal give you, item must be shipped within 7 days. For a claim of item not received (INR) you must have online proof of delivery , for a chargeback due to fraudulent use of a card you only need proof of postage to that address. Collection will give you neither of those. The usual scam is that person collects and a day or so later you get a claim in paypal saying that owner of the paypal account doe snot recognise the transaction and has reported it to the bank as a fraudulent transaction, paypal ask you to defend that claim with proof of posting to the address given, and sometimes (as they don't know their own rules) also expect proof of dleivery, if item is collected you have neither, so payment is taken back from you together with an additional £14 for paypal's work on your behalf.
Seller protection will be shown in your paypal account on very single transaction you get, sellers are specifically warned against collection only items. You will see that warning if you read any of the information at all when you log into paypal to confirm that payment has been successfully received. It's also usually on each paypal email, this is from one I received last wekk:This item is eligible for Seller Protection.
Don't forget to:- Send the item to the shipping address below within 7 days.
Please note:items delivered in person or to a different address are not cover by Seller Protection. - Use a trackable proof of delivery.

^^Fine, I get it - postage it is. I'll get the scales and measuring tape out. What I have a real problem with though is adding unnecessary traffic into the system at this time. I want to get rid of my unused stuff - particularly the seasonal bits - but my conscience won't ever accept that it's "essential" and warrants the multiple journeys required to get it to a purchaser. Lockdown comes first.
It was suggested on this thread that I ring eBay CS. How else do I get an account re-instated?No man is worth crawling on this earth.

Oops, sorry I forgot you are suspended. Yes you will need to phone eBay and be persistent , it’s not going to be easy at all.Rosa_Damascena said:^^Fine, I get it - postage it is. Would it not just be easier to create a new account and start afresh?

That would mean an immediate and permanent suspension without appeal. One of the terms and conditions that eBay do enforce is the ‘not allowed to use any other account while restricted or suspended on another’. It might not be immediate, but eBay have a nasty habit of waiting for a new account to establish, and then hit it. They will also take down any accounts they believe are associated with a banned account and that can be those belonging to other people in the household.gt568 said:Would it not just be easier to create a new account and start afresh?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. eBay seems to want it all it's own way. Why suspend an account only to keep reminding that same accountholder of auction items they are watching?!!
(Was watching some dresses for reference pricing). No man is worth crawling on this earth.
