Center Parcs Netherlands - Options?

We are due to go go Center Parcs in Holland end of May during half term. Center Parcs keep pushing the date back when they will open - now saying they will open our park on 10th May. However - I don’t think we will want to travel anyway. Our ferry booking has full flexibility - most of the crossings are cancelled anyway and they are allowing us to move the booking to another date free of charge. What happens if Center Parcs do open on 10th May as they are planning but we cannot /
don’t want to travel? Does anyone have any success getting CP to change their booking? When I contacted them they said they won’t change our booking because they are planning on being open? Thanks.

If they are open and you choose not to travel, they keep your money.
If they are open and you are not able to travel (because of a travel ban being in effect, for example), then you need to speak to your insurer.
  • I had a holiday booked to centre parcs in the Netherlands next week. I have been chasing a refund as we will not be able to travel/ book(due to personal and financial reasons) within the next year using the voucher they are offering. They have said it's no problem if we book now, the stay can take place at a later date, but I can't see us being able to travel in the next couple years and would like a cash refund. This is what they are now saying:

"The decision was taken by Groupe Pierre & Vacances in consultation with the trade association of the travel companies. In addition to the Center Parcs General Terms and Conditions, the conditions of the voucher offered are in accordance with the HISWA RECRON scheme that has been drawn up in this exceptional situation, after consultation with the Consumer and Market Authority (ACM) and the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

A validity date is stated on the voucher. If this date has expired and the voucher has not been validated, the money will be refunded to your account 1 month after this expiry date.

We hope that you will be able to agree with this mutual agreement with the trade association of the travel companies and legal authorities."

So looks like I will have to wait a year for the voucher to expire before I get a refund, is this right? Or can I legally still ask for a cash refund.
  • It isn't morally correct but may not be a lot you can do if Centre Parcs Europe have different terms and conditions than UK? Centre Parcs in UK ARE offering the choice of rebooking or refund.  Is this a franchise or run by one main Head Office.  I would check with them first then try all other options such as insurance, bank etc.   They may well say as you have been offered a voucher it may be sufficient in this case but you can only try.   Good luck

It will depend on how a person paid.
If on a credit card  then you could claim under section 75,  and S75 is settled under English law.
