Hi people. I was just trying to find some info on the web about reclaiming certain bank fee packages through the coronavirus. My partner "heard" something so I'm just trying to get the facts! He pays a Tech and Travel pack on his personal Barclays Bank Account. Could the travel pack fees be reclaimed by any chance having being locked down?? (Not that we have travelled in years anyway!) Thank you.

Doubt it.
If you don't need it, cancel it.2 -

What wrongdoing are you alleging that Barclays have done?
I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. I just called and cancelled my cover and asked them to refund the money which was devoted 2 days ago which they promised to refund. However, I am not happy that they did not wrote to the customers asking them whether they want to suspend or cancel due to lockdown and no airport or flights operating for last 3 months and may be for another 6 months customers will not be travelling.I was advised that I will have to join again and that any lounge pass accumulated will be lost!
Also provide any medical information again.I have therefore lodged the complaint that Barclays should be doing more and contesting customer whether they still want to continue with the insurance.I am also going to ask Martin to take up this issue with FCA - Financial Conduct Authority, and in his podcast as lot of customer do not think about it.Hopefully, this will help other customers as well.1 -
Hi,
I recently contacted Barclays to cancel my Travel Pack plus £18 per month, and they advised, “Yes that’s okay, but if you do they would have to assess my over draft facilities and I would have to sign new Terms & Conditions” to which I advised this was tantamount to blackmail, especially when we are on Lockdown’ and may need an overdraft. They also advised the new overdraft terms gives Barclays the option to stop the overdraft if I was to use it too often!!
This is definitely a ploy to scare people from canceling the Travel Pack , I’m paying £216.00 a year for nothing!
Please could you pass my concerns onto Martin as this is definitely not conducive to a good banking protocol and needs to be addressed with the FCA too!!
Thank you in advance,0 -
Overdrafts have always been repayable on demand.
It is also true that overdrafts (or part of such as first £100 etc free) have had discounted overdrafts as part of the package.
What Barclays have told you is 100% correct - in fact they would read that from a fixed menu - nothing to do with blackmail just plain fact.0
