Norwegian airline Hell Help!!
I’m at a loss as to what to do next with Norwegian and I guess I’m desperate for some advice. Sorry if it’s long and I stretch it out lol I just want to cover everything in the first post about this.
So I am from the UK and currently reside in the USA. I booked a return trip back to visit my family for a week with Norwegian ( after being warned this airline is diabolical) but they were cheap and I figured what could go wrong .... hmm! 🤷🏼♀️
So I booked it , coming out at about $800 (£650) then all chaos hit with this corona virus. Most other airlines cancelled flights and rebooked or refunded as good airlines do,. I called Norwegian and they said flights still going and if I had a doctor note I could cancel and submit a note and get a refund. Made it sound ever so simple and straight forward! Hmm!
New York JFK were saying on return I would have to self quarantine for 2 weeks. I had to be back home in Pennsylvania for work/family commitments so that wasn’t an option.
Anyway,,, So I got a doctor note and submitted this and my refund thing. At this point , cancelled my flight before it was due to leave. As advised by Norwegian. Let a few weeks go by and rang numerous numerous times to keep getting told “refund dept aren’t accepting calls” my husband weren’t as nice as me either and asked for supervisor after supervisor and kept getting hung up on.
So,. Hubby has come to the conclusion they are stringing me and many others along until they go bust and don’t need to pay anyone 🤷🏼♀️ I’m still holding out hope for my money back.
I set up a complaint on resolver but they haven’t responded at all and it’s been a week nearly.
Sorry for the long rant, and thank you if you got to the end of this 😂. ANY help or advise would be appreciated.

Am I right that you booked from the USA ?

Knowing the date of original travel and date you cancelled may determine the advice given.
Could the remark about a Doctor's note be aimed at you claiming from your travel insurance, rather than a refund from the airline?0 -

Your date of travel was actually before the US travel ban for UK citizens came in to effect. American citizens could still travel but the UK was added to the Presidential block on travellers entering the US at 03:59hrs GMT on 17 March. I see no claim based on CV19 restrictions.
For the Norwegian cancellation protection you need to fit certain criteria for the policy. You may find this useful. If your reason for cancellation is covered within their terms they list the process to follow to make a claim for a refund -

From the airline website -What we cover
- We will refund your ticket in the case of acute illness or death of one of the passengers listed in the booking.
- We will refund your ticket in the case of acute illness or death for an immediate family of one of the passengers in the booking. We define “immediate family" as your spouse/registered partner, co-habiting partner, children, parents, parents-in-law, siblings and grandparents.
- We will cover cancellation because of serious complications in a pregnancy up to 4 weeks before your due date.

Norwegian are holding a General Meeting on May 4th, and require those they owe money to agree to take shares instead, it means existing shareholders will get wiped out. If the answer is 'no' then it is likely the airline will fold almost immediately. At that point, your only recourse is to the card issuer, but I am concerned it i you that cancelled not the airline and in those circumstances, it may be more difficult to show a breach of contract on their part.
The current delay of a week is nothing at the moment, most airlines are dealing with hundreds of thousands of demands for refunds, Virgin says 100 days, Emirates has said refunds may take until August, so if Norwegian survive you may still be waiting some time before you get an answer1
