Hi. yeah i think that is the chain.
Yes that is the wedding travel companys website. They said I need to claim through section 75. my wedding is due October 15th this year in Cyprus. (heres hoping it still goes ahead)

the £1700 was the deposit. But I had to pay another £1700 and reclaim the original back, but had no luck so far.
I don't know what to do.
Crazy the way these companies operate.
They, like other travel agents should have refunded you and then become a creditor of TC. Not ask you to pay again.

Sadly Nationwide are correct on the S75 claim. As no  debtor-creditor link.
But some good news is that you still have a chargeback right on the £1700 from
wedding travel company for failure to provide the service. You have 120 days from date of 15/10 so long as the original payment is less than 540 days ago.
Did they send you a email or letter stating that your wedding would not be going ahead if you did not pay again?
You will need to go back to Nationwide and state you want a Chargeback on the amount (£1700 if that is what you paid on the CC) for failure to provide the service.

Last 2 years have been a !!!!!! for many. A friend at work lost her honeymoon thanks to TC, and now has lost the re-planned honeymoon to Covid 19....

Thanks so much for reply. could give it ago. I think it is now longer than the 540 days for original payment. I thought nationwide could have told me about the chargeback option when they refused the section 75 claim.

so do you reckon if original payment was over 540 days I have lost that money?

so sorry to hear about your friend. your right it has been a shambles and i'm feeling a bit down about it.

If it is over 540 days from the original payment then you can't do a chargeback. Your option then would be a complaint to FOS.

The complaint won't cost you anything, and might work. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

  • Ok. born again. thanks very much for your help. I have already put a complaint in to them 4 weeks ago but they haven't assigned me to a case yet. Reckon it's just gonna take a bit of time due to lots others complainen.
    thanks again!!
