Credit card interest

I have got my Halifax clarity card set up to pay the full balance every month so why do I get charged interest when ever I spend on it?

You’ve posted the same question twice so here’s my answer as listed in your other post:

If any of your transactions are classed as ‘cash’ you will be charged interest even if you pay the balance in full. Interest begins to accrue from the moment a cash transaction is posted to your account. This might be a cash withdrawal - or it may be a payment that is classed as cash such as crediting a gambling account (although this is less Likely now) - if you’re withdrew £40 last month / paid the balance including the interest - there’d still be more interest to pay this month - it’s the way it’s calculated - as mentioned ‘trailing interest’ - have you made any cash or cash linked transactions ?
  • No, unless purchases from Amazon are classed as cash or the balance towards a holiday (that we will probably not be taking now because of the current situation).

Was the DD set up in time for the first statement?
If not, then you may be paying interest.

I know it is probably a silly suggestion but you could always call the card company and ask them

I know waiting times are a bit long but you will be able to get through

Are you actually being charged interest, or are you possibly looking at a line which says 'Next month's estimated interest' or similar?

If the latter, you're not actually being charged that, it's just an illustration of the interest you would pay if you didn't clear your balance in full.
