Leak from toilet cistern inlet pipe.

Options
Hi all and thanks in advance for any advice that you are able to give me.

I am having an issue with the inlet pipe to my toilet cistern. I have attached a photo of the setup but the water is leaking from the join between the metal nut at the top and the plastic pipe coming from the cistern.

The leak can be stopped by isolating the water supply using the screw shown in the photo, but whenever it is opened up again (to fill the cistern) the leak starts again.

Does anybody have any advice on how best to fix this or what may be causing the leak?

That nut looks like it is cross threaded or at least not done up tight OR possibly the fibre washer at the bottom of the inlet pipe into the cistern has perished (assuming there is supposed to be one).  Turn off the water inlet valve, flush the toilet to empty the cistern.  Undo the nut and inspect it and the washer.

I agree with LK it looks cross threaded, you won't be able to screw it up correctly, tbh I'd go & buy another fill valve with a brass tail & fit that, you will need a new 1/2" fibre washer
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.
