Has anyone got this problem with an anti hair wrap Shark Vacuum?

  • I bought a Shark NZ801UKT anti-hair wrap upright corded Vaccum  earlier this year. It incorporates a roller at the front which is supposed to pick up hair, but seems to move some of the debris into a narrow band or line when moving it back and fro. Obviously I've checked that suction is good (it lifts the carpet up), pipes are unblocked, filters are clean and dust bowl is empty.

It's definitely a roller issue. By using it on a cleaner floor, or by switching from hard to soft floor (or possibly the other way round) you can slow the roller speed which helps a bit. If you take the roller out it solves the problem completely, although of course you don't then get the claimed benefits of the roller.  Has anyone got a similar problem

interesting. i was thinking of buying a shark as a girl i used to work with has one and loves it. have to say the main thing that put me off was the price. in the end I went for the equivalent hoover.

I've had a Shark Duoclean upright for the past 5 years and have to say it's the best vacuum I've used, better than the Dyson I had before it.

The soft roller at the front isn't there to pick up hair, it's primary role is to sweep dust and other objects into the main brush bar. Although I don't have the anti-hairwrap feature I've never experienced the issue you have. Instead of just moving the Shark back and forth in the "traditional" manner try chaning your technique and follow the vacuum in a forward only manner.

I suppose so, however the fault is very obvious if you start with a dirty floor, it leaves a solid line of dust and hair.

I can't imagine anyone buying a Vacuum which needed to be pushed forwards all the time!  Unfortunately, my rooms with furniture form a cuboid pattern not a continuous annular shape!  Of course I could move to a windmill to suit the vacuum but they didn't mention that.
