Airline into Administration

If Virgin Atlantic go into administration what happens to the tickets we bought direct with them.
if a buyer is found will they honour those tickets.
If Virgin offer us the chance to rebook and issue a voucher and then go into administration what happens to that voucher.

Well you would just claim the cost back from your card provider, in the same way when Monarch and Thomas Cook went under1

Richard Branson is desperately trying to force the government to lend him half a million and this is just the latest attempt. I think it will backfire, not only is the government not going to do it, but he has put off thousands who might consider booking with him for later this year or next. If it happens, and the airline ceases to fly and you booked directly, claim on the card you used to pay for the tickets.1

Claiming back using section 75 appears to be a grey area as explained by Martin Lewis on the main site, as no one seems to be sure if having accepted the voucher you have been supplied with your purchase and section 75 no longer applies, if anyone knows the answer please post as there's a live chance a lot of people could get caught up in this particularly if Virgin do go bust.

You would be able to make a claim against the card as you would have received no value for your original payment. I would still try and get a refund but if things are as bad as Branson claims, he wants half a billion not million, a slip of the finger above, and now claims to be talking to the government again, then I very much doubt anyone will see a refund. The last deadline I saw was 100 days from the date of cancellation for Virgin flights, if they do survive then I think their reputation may be badly dented0

I'm waiting for a refund from VH - I appreciate that they are saying 100 days, but have they actually refunded anyone yet? I had assumed that they would start processing these from day 1 and it would take up to day 100 to process all - but they don't appear to be even considering starting until day 99 or so.0
