Hi all,
Looking at two Dell Esperion New 15 5000 laptops, are they a good choice for general home use and is the £20ish extra worth having NVIDIA GeForce MX250 2GB GDDR5
Instead of
Intel UHD 620 with shared memory
Sorry, cant post links from fone but on the Dell uk website offer price £679 or £660 ish. And all other spec is same, which makes them appear good machines.
Thanks in advance
Vb

Shared memory means it takes some of the system memory to run GPU .As opposed to Nvidia using its own memory to run .

Seems much better in appearence than the previous generation and would hopefully do more than I really would need. Not interested in gaming, but just general use and some photo editing...possibly video too, if I can find the patience.VB0

Comparison between the 2 options. The NVIDIA will have better performance, but if you're not gaming or video editing the it probably doesn't matter.1 -
To be honest, it seems a lot of money, for something not particularly amazing. Screen can only achieve 52% of sRGB.
But then one usually pays a premium to get the latest processors.1 -
Look expensive to me.
I would probably wait for Ryzen5/ 7 40001 -
Absolutely worth the extra £20, especially as you're spending £600. You'll probably get a couple more years more out of it before it becomes too slow to even browse the internet. But if you can find a laptop with a Ryzen processor you will probably bet getting a better deal.1
