New front door.

Options
Hi I ordered and paid for a new door, £848.98, door was delivered and fitter spotted it was damaged , so arranged to send it back. Supposed to refund me and re-order door. The coronavirus started, and the company couldn't confirm the door had been collected, as the firm picking up the  door was in lockdown. They say they can't refund me until they have confirmed the door has been returned. I paid on the 3/3/2020, can they withhold my money, they wont discuss it with me, only with the fitter who ordered the door, although I paid by debit card. I want, either my money back, or another door, is this fair.

If the fitter ordered it, he's their customer so he needs to speak to them.

Has the delivery firm picked the door up and still got it or do you still have it, waiting for them? Either way if you still have your old door a few weeks delay is hardly an issue in the current climate. If it was you would you issue a refund until you had the door back?

Why would you get a refund and a new door ordered? Surely it's one or the other?

Can you please confirm who actually placed the order and paid for the door, you or the fitter, and if you ordered it why did the fitter arrange for it to be sent back, surely that was your job as the buyer.

The way I'm reading your post is that you've paid the fitter to get the door and fit it, in which case clearly the seller of the door has no obligation to you.
