Car at fault- accident

Has anyone on here had any experience of a new car being involved in an accident and feeling the car had some sort of a fault which caused the accident? This happened to me recently.  The more I think about it the more I feel I should contact the car maufacturer but not sure how I should go about it.  My car is currently at a garage for assessment/ repair. It’s only 3 months old. I wrote off another car and damaged neighbours property and advised my insurer it was my fault. I’m actually concerned about getting my car back and not having the trust in it any more.  How could I prove the car was at fault? Is it possible?

What mechanical defect are you alleging?

Don’t want to go into too much detail. Automatic car speeded up from stationary, it all happened very quickly.

Without details you're unlikely to get the correct help.

As it stands the most likely fault was a foot on the right pedal.

Yes and that was the stance I took right from the start, but having driven an automatic for the first time today I feel confident that it wasn’t my foot at fault. What if it is a fault with the car and how will I ever know for sure.

Please provide details of the car.  Without it everyone is guessing.

So far we have its an auto.  So it could be a Nissan with 100bhp, or a Bugatti with over 1,000.

Wants peoples opinions one a mechanical defect but won't actual give details of said mechanical defect.

You need to hire a forensic automotive engineer.  They will make a report.  Probably cost around £500-£1000 plus vat.

That’s very helpful, thank you. Having never been in this situation before I was unsure what I could do.

Can you be a bit more specific in terms of 'speeded up from stationary'? That's what normally happens when you press the accelerator.

Confused.  How can you have driven an automatic for the first time today if you had an accident in one?
Im guessing you got confused and pressed the wrong pedal
