I wasn’t suggesting that the seller offered any type of warranty but that the computer might still be covered by a manufacturers warranty2

Actually Apple warranties can be transferred, the warranty is typically tied to the device and not exclusively to the first owner
The initial one-year warranty can be used as long as you have the serial number of the product. Thus, to transfer the initial one-year warranty to another person, you need only transfer the serial number. However, the Apple Care Protection Plan warranty requires additional steps in order to be transferred
